Sacred Wonder

Sacred Wonder is how the way of Jesus holds faith: with open hands, asking honest questions, and staying curious about where God shows up. It is the opposite of certainty as a spiritual achievement. Itβs deeply connected to prayer, not as a technique to master but as a posture of attention.
Bartimaeus is living this. He is sitting beside the road begging when he hears Jesus is passing by. He starts crying out and the crowd tries to silence him. He cries out more. Jesus stops the entire procession for this one man that everyone else is stepping over, and then asks what seems like an obvious question: what do you want me to do for you? He does not presume. He asks. Because asking is an act of wonder that assumes the person in front of you has something worth hearing.
