Sacred Space

Jesus is being pressed by a crowd who wants to hear the word of God and there is no synagogue, so he gets into a fishing boat and teaches from the water. Then he tells Simon to push out into the deep and let down the nets. What follows is a catch so large the nets begin to break, and a calling so large Simon falls to his knees. Jesus takes the most ordinary outside space imaginable and makes it the most sacred moment any of them have ever experienced. The outside is not where you go when the real thing is unavailable. The outside is the real thing.
