Make Room by Multiplying

This week is about giving up control to the Spirit and watching what happens. 120 disciples in one room. One language. One culture. Waiting. They've let go (Jesus ascended). They've welcomed (Matthias added to the twelve). Now they wait for what's next. Then the Spirit comes—wind, fire, languages multiplying. Suddenly that one room makes room for Parthians, Medes, Elamites, Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, Libya, Rome, Cretans, Arabs. Each hears in their own native language. This is Pentecost. The Spirit makes room for everyone.
God's multiplication strategy intentionally includes radical diversity, not comfortable uniformity. When you give up control to the Holy Spirit, God multiplies making room beyond your limited expectations. You can't control what the Spirit does. You can only make room and watch it multiply.
